I’ve had numerous run-ins with Econet Wireless over their unsolicited SMSs. This culminated in various tweets, emails back and forth and phone calls (from them) assuring me I would stop receiving any promo texts. Ever. Today I received this, from someone named 30440 who ain’t no friend of mine. Your Tuesday will never be the same again. Buy a medium / large pizza at any Pizza Inn outlet and get
Deck Magazine posted this photo on their Facebook page earlier today. I, literally, have no words for the amount of … creative inspiration … Econet took here. Imitation – the sincerest form of flattery. * Click the image for the full glory Update – TechZim did a story on this in 2011. I even commented on it. I guess it’s still pretty shocking (thanks 3-mob for the reminder)
Updated below The weekend before last there was a data outage. I have seen no explanation whatsoever, whether online or via SMS. And we all know how you love to send SMS. This past weekend was the same. In fact, Sunday was the day I really needed a reliable data service, and there was none. With no explanation. This is unacceptable. I have been awake for an hour because Econet Wireless sent me a text at three in the morning, telling me my account has been credited with 10 loyalty points for received calls. Now, I don’t have a problem with Econet’s efforts at promotions and benefits and value addition or whatever
There comes a time when any cellphone user has had enough.
Enough short messages lost in the wind.
Enough calls dropped for no evident reason.
Enough ineplixable network outages, signal droppages and service stoppages.
Every user has their limit, and I believe I have received enough product offers and random useless midnight messages from Econet to last me a lifetime
